Cleric Awards Scholarships To Boko Haram Victims
The former President of Pentecostal Followship of Nigeria, Rivers state chapter, Apostle Eugene Ogu, has offered scholarship for one year to all the children of pastors affected in the Boko Haram crisis in some parts of the Northern states.
Apostle Ogu, who revealed this to The Tide in an interview at the Port Harcourt Airport, said he declared the scholarship during a memorial service organised by the PFN in Abuja, noting that the aims and idea for the service was to raise money to support the families of the affected pastors.
He said there is nothing any one could do to raise the dead but to cushion the effect.
According to him, the PFN felt it was necessary to inform the world of the other side of the Boko Haram story.
The clergy man said during the crisis, about 29 churches were burnt, and some pastors killed adding that the Christians in the community felt it was good to organize a memorial service for those killed to raise funds to assist the widows and children of the affected pastors.
According to him, Christians have paid so much prize for keeping the nation together.
He pleaded that the Federal Government should take necessary action now and not ignore the ugly situation.
He condemned the frequent attacks on Christians in the North and said none of these actions has been compensated by the government.
Ogu noted that silence of Christians in most of the cases should not be taken for granted.
