Ikuru Tasks Logo, Mascot Unveiling Committee
The Deputy Governor of Rivers State, His Excellency, Engr. Tele Ikuru, has charged members of Logo and Mascot Unveiling Launching Committee of the 17th National Sports Festival tagged Garden City 2010, to ensure the success of their assignment.
Engr. Ikuru, who was represented by the commissioner for Sports, Hon. Boma Iyaye, gave this charge while inaugurating the committee recently at the Local Organising Committee Secretariat in Port Harcourt.
He expressed confidence in the calibre of persons appointed into the committee, noting that the Chairman, Prince Billy Harry, who is also the President of Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (PHACCIMA).
He enjoined the chairman to bring his wealth of experience in the private sector to bear in the committee work, to ensure success of the fund raising dimension and all other aspect of the committee’s mandate.
Responding on behalf of the members, the chairman thanked the deputy governor for the confidence reposed in them and for finding them worthy to be so appointed, pledging that the sub-committee will leave no stone unturned in the bid to achieve its mandate.
The Logo and Mascot Launching Committee is responsible for organising the launching/unveiling ceremony of the Logo and Mascot for the 2010 Sports Festival, as well as sourcing for funds for the Sports Festival.
The formal launching/unveiling of the Mascot ceremony is slated to hold in Port Harcourt in November 2009.
Other members of the committee are: Mr. Joshua Vaduchi, Mr. J. J. Kio, Mr. Yibo Koko, Mr. Kue L. C. Ikoro, Mr. Isaac Ogochi, Dr. Godwin Mpi, Mr. Mike Mboye, Ms. Mediline Tador, Hon. Agolia Aboko, Sir (Hon.) D. H. Harry and Capt. O. C. Okonkwo, while Dr. Sam Sam Jaja is to serve as the Secretary.
