Body Advocates Humanitarian Bank
The Blessible World Foundation, a Humanitarian and Non-Governmental Organisation has advocated for the establishment of humanitarian Banks to promote human welfare and improve the lot of the less privileged.
The President of the Organisation, Mrs I.B Ordor made the recommendation during the 5th International Humanitarian Conference held at the Presidential Hotel, Port Harcourt.
She said her foundation had already established the first Humanitarian Bank in the whole world with a target of giving food aids, counselling and training to the less privileged in the society.
According to the president, the initiative is directed at the most vulnerable groups in the society, such as, widows, orphans, destitutes, the poor and the unemployed.
The scheme also consists of several charitable accounts like, Save-the-Hungry Account, Tithe Account, scholarship Account. Emergency Account and the Widows and Orphans Vocational Education Grant (WOVEG), all refered to as donors account.
The president who called for proper rehabilitation of destitutes and the unemployed in the society and added that the success of the fight against militancy and other social vices lies in charity.
She called on the public and well-meaning individuals in the society to show charity and practical love by giving part of their earnings to help others.
Mrs Odor also stated that the Humanitarian Bank is already thriving in countries like Togo Benin Republic, and South Africa noting that the development crisis in the Niger Delta demands that the scheme be introduced in the oil-rich region.
