Lagos Assembly Passes 35 Bills, 84 Resolutions
Lagos State House of Assembly says it has passed 35 bills and 84 resolutions aimed at ensuring better life for the citizenry since its inception.
Speaker of the Assembly, Mr. Adeyemi Ikuforiji stated this recently at the Town Hall meetings organised by the Lagos State House of Assembly at Surulere and Maryland Local Government Areas of the state.
Ikuforiji said efforts were being made to complete work on another 13 bills under various stages of passage. He said six bills were awaiting executive briefing while four government regulations would soon be approved by the House.
The Speaker called on Lagosians to attend the Assembly’s public hearings and plenary sessions which he said, would expose them to the business of the parliament as well as deepen their knowledge of legislative democracy.
The purpose of the Town Hall meetings, Ikuforiji said, was to ensure that the people were given the opportunity to be fully involved in the decision-making process concerning the provision of developmental projects in various communities.
“We would want to know in which area of development the government has performed and others to work on, in order to bring development to the doorsteps of every Lagosian”, he said.
The Speaker, therefore, urged the constituents to provide the Lagos State House of Assembly with information that can assist them in their collective drive to make the people feel the positive impact of their government.
