‘Rohr Won’t Resign From Super Eagles’
Gernot Rohr will refuse calls by the Nigeria Football Federation for him to resign as Super Eagles Coach, Tidesports source has learned.
The Franco-German had been in the news in recent days after the Eagles played a 1-1 draw against Cape Verde in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers in Lagos last Tuesday.
Although the draw was enough to seal a place in the World Cup playoffs, there were calls for the Eagles Coach to be sacked.
Tidesports source had reported that the NFF was under pressure to discard the 68-year-old.
The football federation, however, in a statement said Rohr was still in charge while confirming that there were talks to relieve him of his job.
Our correspondent however gathered that the NFF cannot afford to sack Rohr because of the financial implications involved and is looking at the possibility of asking him to resign.
Rohr also confirmed this to Tidesports source, saying the NFF was asking him to resign.
