LG Boss Restates Commitment To Develop Council
The Chairman of Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Council of Rivers State, Hon Enyiada Cookey-Gam has affirmed the commitment of his administration to restore the local government, to its lost glory as the industrial hub of Nigeria.
Speaking with journalists recently in Port Harcourt, Cookey:Gam stressed that the zeal to make Opobo and Nkoro communities great is hinged on the fact that once these areas are fixed and gotten right, the council’s economy would have been re-engineerred and repositioned for the common good of the state and nation.
The chairman said at the moment, over 1,000 micro, small and medium interprises (MSMES) operate at different levels in these catchment communities, ranging from leather works, garments, metal fabrication, service repair and maintenance, among others.
The MSMES, he added, provide the engine room for the massive economic activities that fuel the socio-economic base of Opobo- and Nkoro in particular and Rivers State in general.
He lauded those who were consistently delivering and furthering the interest of local companies and businesses in the LGA, through capital building, job creation, innovative technological initiatives and financial growth.
The council boss used the opportunity to congratulate business men and women, youths and other stranger elements in the area for doing business in the LGA, thereby making the area proud through their untiring commitment and pledged to contribute to the development of Opobo/Nkoro in particular and Rivers State in general under his government as far as business development is concerned.
