Ward 2 Emerges Winner Of EMOLGA Football Competition
Ward two in Emohua Local Government Area (EMOLGA) of Rivers State, has emerged the winner of this year’s Inter-Ward Football Competition of the area, as they beat ward seven, 2-0 in the final match.
The competition was organised by the EMOLGA chapter of National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) and sponsored by Goebliss O.George.
The competition was “tagged” Peace and Unity Cup. The 14 wards in the LGA participated in the competition.
Speaking, after the final match, last Saturday at Ojims College, Rumuji, the sponsor, George, commended the leadership of the NYCN for organising a successful tournament.
He further lauded the participants for the peaceful disposition and maturity demonstrated during the tournament, saying that in sports there is always love and unity.
George called on well-meaning sons and daughters of the LGA, to show interest in developing the youth, particularly in sporting activities, adding that sports is one important key for developing the youth.
“This football competition will be sustained,” George said.
Also speaking, the Paramount ruler of Rumuji Community, Eze Christian Elechi, thanked the organisers of the competition for playing the final match in his kingdom, noting that peace has finally returned in the LGA.
Earlier, the coordinator of EMOLGA chapter of NYCN, Innocent Woke, also expressed satisfaction, following the way and manner the tournament was organised. and thanked the sponsor.
