Rivers PDP Warns Members Against Ambitious Guber Aspirants
The Rivers State chapter of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has again warned its members not to associate with any member of the party nursing gubernatorial ambition in the state, saying that such early ambition would create division in the party.
The party also warned that it would not hesitate to suspend any member involved in anti-party activities in the state.
The chairman of the state PDP, Ambassador Desmond Akawor, gave the warning when the Grassroots Development Initiative (GDI) paid solidarity’ visit to the state party executive at the party secretariat in Port Harcourt.
Akawor said all issues of 2023 governorship and other related matters would be handled by the party at the appropriate time.
“Please, be vigilant, don’t associate yourselves with any member of the party running a group for governorship ambition in the state, the party has its way of handling that at the right time”, the party chairman warned.
The party chairman, who used the opportunity to commend the state Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike for his tremendous role in the just concluded Edo election, said his doggedness has made PDP proud in the state and the country at large.
He urged the GDI group to maintain its faith in the governor, saying that the developmental strides of Governor Wike in the state have placed the party a pole position to win any election in the state.
Akawor further appealed to the group to start early enough to embark on sensitisation for more members to the party.

APC Unveils New NWC At National Convention
Delegates at the convention, held at the Eagle Square, also produced a new national working committee (NWC) through a consensus arrangement endorsed by stakeholders.
Dr Ben Nwoye was named deputy national chairman (south), replacing Mr Emma Eneukwu, following consultations within the party.
Sources within the party said the decision was influenced by zoning considerations and consultations among party leaders, with Mr Peter Mbah, Enugu State governor, playing a significant role in ensuring Dr Nwoye’s inclusion.
In his acceptance speech, Prof. Yilwatda said his re-election was a call to greater service and pledged commitment to unity within the ruling party.
“We are ready to serve, ready to lead, and we are ready to build the party, together with the nation,” he said.
He added that the new leadership would not “fail or falter” in carrying out its responsibilities.
President Bola Tinubu, Vice-President Kashim Shettima, governors, members of the national assembly, and other party leaders graced the convention.
