Chieftaincy Crisis Looms In Eneka Over Plans To Install New Chief
A new crisis is now brewing in Rumuchiorlu Community in Eneka, Obio/ Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State over a fresh plan to install Ohajima Smith Mbata as a chief in the community.
Trouble started last Monday morning, when the planned coronation caused chaos in the community as the Odum family members, who are laying claim to the chieftaincy stool, kicked against the planned installation of the new chief.
The disagreement, it was learnt, disrupted the entire process, leading to a stalemate, and the resultant tension in the community.
The Tide investigations show that the Odum family is now accusing the Mbata, Opurum and Owhunnah families of conniving with the paramount ruler of the community to deny it of the stool.
A member of the Odum family, Elijah Emeka Odum, told our correspondent that the purported coronation of Ohajima Smith Mbata as chief in Rumuchiorlu would not stand, and called on the state government to wade into the matter before the impasse throws the community into a state of anarchy and chaos.
Other members of the Odum family including Godwin Odum and Samson Odum threatened to resist any surreptitious moves to deny the family its right to produce the next chief in Rumuchiorlu community.
It would be recalled that six families make up Rumuchiorlu community in Eneka.
The families include; Odum, Avuha, Wali, Opurum, Mbata, and Owhunnah.
