Lawyer Cautions Against Invasion Of CJ’s Residence
A Calabar-based human rights lawyer, Barrister Utum Eteng, has warned the leadership of Cross River State branch of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) and the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), on the consequences that await them should they allow any individual or executive arm of government to unlawfully usurp the functions of the Chief Judge (CJ) of the state by invading his residence.
He warned the two professional bodies not to adopt a lukewarm attitude towards unlawful taking over of the residence of the CJ so as not to be punished by posterity.
Eteng gave the warning while acquainting media men with the goings-on in the state judiciary which according to him, were ‘mind bogging’ and needs to be addressed urgently before things go out of hand.
The legal practitioner urged the professional bodies of the NBA and JUSUN to with no further delay commence a process of digging deep into the allegations making the rounds in the social media that plan by executive arm of Cross River State Government has reached advanced stage to unlawfully take over the Chief Judge’s official residence.
