Group Sets Agenda For N’Delta Ministry
A socio-political organisation in the Niger Delta, Patriotic Concerned Forum of Niger Delta (PCFND), has called on the newly appointed Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Obong Godswill Akpabio to give more attention to youths empowerment and infrastructural development of the Niger Delta.
The forum, which said this at the end of its National Executive Council meeting in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital said the Niger Delta has continued to remain backward in infrastructural development despite its oil and gas resources.
It stressed the need for Akpabio to us e his wealth of experience as former Governor of Akwa Ibom State to bear in the running of the ministry, expressing the hope that as a tested and trusted leader, Akpabio will replicate what he did in Akwa Ibom State as a governor in Niger Delta region.
The forum also decried the high level of poverty in the region and called for massive youth empowerment to check the rising tide of restiveness in the region.
The National chairman of the forum, Owo-Odoh, said the group whose membership is over 170 members cuts across the region, will mobilize the people for the success of the administration of the minister,
It is good appointment, our advice is for the minister to focus on provision of infrastructures and human empowerment, he said.
Owo said his group also plans to embark on sensitization campaign round the region with the view to preaching the message of peace.
