NULGE Lauds Obaseki Over LG Financial Viability
The Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) Edo branch yesterday commended Governor Godwin Obaseki, for his efforts to reposition the Local Government system and make it financially viable.
The newly elected Chairman of NULGE in the state, Mr Lazarus Adorolo, gave the commendation while on a courtesy visit to the governor at the Edo Government House, Benin yesterday.
Adorolo said that the revenue generation policy of the Obaseki-led administration for local the local governments was yielding positive results.
He said that NULGE would continually dialogue with the state government to improve the welfare of local government workers across the state.
The union chairman added that the NULGE would continue to inspire the workers to be more productive and dedicated to their duties.
Adoloro also commended the state government for ensuring peace and security in the state.
In his remarks, the Acting Governor, Mr Philip Shaibu, said that the state government prioritised the welfare of workers in the state.
According to him, when government takes care of workers’ welfare, productivity will be high.
Shaibu said that the state government had set up a target to ensure that in the nearest future no local government would owe its workers their salaries.
He also assured the NULGE chairman that the state government would maintain good working relationship with the workers because they were very important to government.
