Bayelsa PDP Repositions Ahead Nov 2 Guber Poll
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bayelsa State has commenced moves to put its house in order following the release of timetable by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the state governorship election slated for November 2, 2019.
To this end, the PDP has held an expanded State Executive Council (SEC) meeting in Yenagoa, which was attended by Governor Seriake Dickson; Gboribiogha Jonah, the deputy governor; Senator Ben Murray-Bruce, Bayelsa East; Fred Agbedi, representing Sagbama/ Ekeremor Federal Constituency and Konbowei Benson, Speaker of the state House of Assembly.
Also in attendance were Douye Diri, senator-elect, Bayelsa Central; members of the state House of Assembly; Moses Cleopas, state PDP chairman; Remi Kuku, member, PDP Board of Trustees; Thompson Okorotie; ward and local government chairmen of the party, among others.
The PDP SEC described the forthcoming governorship poll as an isolated one and warned members against anti-party activities, saying that all hands must be on the deck to ensure the party records landslide victory.
The meeting, according to a statement last Tuesday by Director of Strategic Communication, Governor’s Office, Nathan Egba, also ratified the reports of the disciplinary committee set up to review the activities of some of its members during the last general elections.
In another development, about 104 young business owners in Bayelsa State are benefiting from the entrepreneurial training scheme of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (SMEDAN), which began in Yenagoa on Tuesday.
