Wike’s Aide Released 14 Days After Abduction …Continue Manhunt For Hoodlums
14 days after he was abducted, the police has confirmed the release of the Special Adviser to the Rivers State Governor on Lands and Survey, Dr. Anugbum Onuoha.
This is as the police said the manhunt for his abductors was still on, stating that the command will ensure they are apprehended and made to face the law.
The Tide recalls that Onuoha was kidnapped on the 17th of January at a hotel along the Ada George axis of Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.
A statement by spokesman of the State Police Command, Nnamdi Omoni said Onuoha was rescued by joint efforts of security agencies in the state in the early hours of last Saturday.
Omoni, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) also said the governor’s aide had been debriefed and was receiving medical attention.
The statement reads, “The Special Adviser to the Governor of Rivers State on Lands and Survey has regained his freedom. He was released in the early hours of Saturday from his abductors by the joint efforts of the security agencies in the state. He has been debriefed and currently receiving medical attention.
“Meanwhile, the manhunt for his abductors is still on and the command will spare no effort in bringing them to justice. The CP wishes to appeal to the public to continue to have confidence in us and trust in our ability to make the state safe, even as we approach the 2019 elections,” Omoni said
It was gathered that security operatives had been combing the creeks since January 18, 2019 in search of Onuoha when he was abducted.
Meanwhile Special Adviser to Onuoha on Media and Publicity, Prince Nwaifo said he was not aware if any ransom was paid before his principal was freed.
Nwaifor said, “By the special grace of God, Dr Onuoha has regained his freedom from the hands of his abductors. We are in his residence and we are all happy. He is in good health and I am not aware if any ransom was paid before he was released,” he stated.
