GM Lauds RSNC Staff’s Support, Commitment To Duty
The General Manager of Rivers State Newspaper Corporation, Mr Vincent Ake has lauded the support his management has enjoyed from staff and the commitment and dedication to duty they have shown over the last two years, which has enhanced improved productivity and mutual understanding between management and staff.
Speaking during the triennial delegates’ conference of the corporation’s chapter of the National Union of Printing, Publishing and Paper Products Workers (NUPPPPROW) to usher in a new executive that would run the affairs of the union for the next three years, Ake reminded the staff that it pays to be good ambassadors of the organisation they work.
The general manager recalled that staff of the corporation have been friendly with one another since his resumption of office, and urged them to ensure they continue to be their brothers’ keepers at all times.
He urged NUPPPPROW members to continue to work hard, adding that there was always a reward for hard-work, while praying that good, dedicated and hardworking members be rewarded, and assured of improved working environment to enable them perform optimally.
Ake warned that they desist from bitter politics as election was not a do-or-die affairs urging members to learn to be good followers of their leaders.
Earlier in his welcome address presented by the outgoing Chairman of NUPPPPROW, Comrade Abraham Amesi noted that the union has surmounted many challenges in its struggle to improve members’ welfare in Rivers State and the South-South.
Amesi noted that the chapter’s successes included the election of two of their members, Comrade Patience Owiriwa as National Executive Council (NEC) member and Comrade Godwin Williamson, who was returned as Vice President, South-South for a second term at the 5th Quadrennial Delegates’ Conference in Calabar, Cross Rivers State.
He enumerated some of the challenges facing the executive, including the issue of poor welfare of members in the various ministries, departments and agencies, and appealed for improved welfare package for workers.
Those elected to run the affairs of NUPPPPROW in RSNC include, Nwiueh Donatus Ken as chairman; Patience Owiriwa as vice chairman; Prince Daminabo as secretary; Soibifaa Paul as treasurer; and Progress Edgerton as assistant secretary.
The Government Printing Press Chapter of NUPPPPROW, also elected officers to run the affairs of the union with election of Osiga Saturday as chairman; Gbooga Nugha as vice chairman; Johnbull Inye as secretary; Idoniboye Otelemate as treasurer and Ugo-Elendu Felicia as assistant secretary.
