Gunmen Kill OAU Student
unknown gunmen have killed a part three level student of the Department of Accounts of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Ile-Ife Osun State, Abiodun Babalola.
Babalola died as a result of injuries sustained during the attack at the Adam and Ev avenue an out-campus students hostel along Parakin-Edle road of Ile-Ife.
The university authority in a release by the Public Relations Officer of the University, Abiodun Olarewaju in a condolence letter stated that the students were attacked in the were hours of yesterday with dangerous weapons by some persons who inflicted varying degrees of injuries on the hapless students before carting away their money, phones and other valubles.
Expressing fatherly agony at the loss of a student, the Vice Chancellor, Prof Eyitope Ogunbodede, said people should place the fear of God far and above worldly materials, wondering what sort of earthly possession would make a man to attack, maim and kill his fellow man.
He, thereafter, on behalf of the council, Senate Staff, Students and the entire university community, prayed that the lord would grant eternal rest to the late Abiodun Babalola and the parents and family members the fortitude to bear the irreparable lost.
Meanwhile, concerned parents have expressed grief over poor performance of the security operatives and response to distress calls by some of the students.
They called for investigations of the killings to avert further occrence, particularly as the 2019 general elections nearer.

Education Commissioner Seeks media collaboration in Rivers
The River State Commissioner for Education, Dr Peters Nwagor has called on media practitioners in Rivers State to deploy their various communication platforms toward promoting government programmes and policies aimed at achieving sustainable development in the education sector.
