The Nigeria Police Force (NPF), has arrested seven customs officers for alleged murder of one Mrs. Patience Oni and the injuring of an innocent man at the Forte Oil filing station near Badagry roundabout in Lagos, last Tuesday.
The Divisional Police Officer, (DPO), Badagry Police Station, Samson Akhiromen, said the men of the Customs were arrested for indiscriminate shooting and killing of innocent people in the area.
The DPO in a statement made available to The Tide last Friday said the customs officers under the code name, ‘Anti Flying’ were raiding an illegal rice depot near a filling station at 12 pm last Tuesday when they started shooting and killed the woman and injured the other.
The Customs officers, DPO said, started shooting indiscriminately to scare away traders and residents from the area before their bullets hit and killed one woman and injured another.
Akhiromen said during the sporadic shooting, the bullets from one of the officers hit two people, one died immediately, while the injured one was taken to undisclosed hospital for treatment.
He explained that the husband of the late woman is a police inspector serving in Area K Police Station, Morogbo.
The Police DPO said his team of gallant police officers arrested the customs officers who had been handed over to the SCIID, Panti for investigation and prosecution.
