Police Arrest Killers Of IAUOE’s Student
The Rivers State Police Command has arrested and paraded killers of a female student of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Rumuolumeni, Miss Calista Onyinyechi Okori.
Miss Calista Onyinyechi Okori, a 23 year-old student was shot dead by one Goodness Chukwu and Lekum Matthew on the 30th June, 2018 at 20:35 hours while returning from school on the fateful day.
The State Commissioner of Police, Mr Zaki Ahmed told journalists that police detectives from the state CID acting on credible intelligence arrested the duo, adding that one of the suspects, Lekum Matthew had confessed that he shot the girl.
Ahmed averred that one locally made pistol and rounds of live cartridges were recovered from the suspects, adding that they would be charged to court after the investigation on the matter was concluded.
One of the arrested suspects, Goodness Chukwu while narrating their involvement in the crime confessed that they killed the girl.
“We went to rob actually and not to kill; we had succeeded but because my friend, Lekum Matthew was high on tramadol effect, he shot the girl because the girl grabbed him”, he added.
