A 26-year-old butcher, Afeez Olatinwo, who allegedly broke into a house and stole N260,000 valuables, was, yesterday, bought before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court.
The accused, who resides at Owodunni Street, Alagbado in Lagos, is facing a two-count charge of house-breaking and stealing.
According to the prosecution, the accused broke into the house of the complainant, Mrs Juliana Akinola, to steal the valuables.
Police prosecutor, Insp. Abiola Adewale, told the court that the accused committed the offences on June 24, at No. 1, Unity Avenue, Owodunni, Alagbado in Lagos.
Adewale said that the accused stole one plasma television, a generator, one camera, one laptop and some vital documents valued at N260, 000.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr W. A. Salami, admitted him to a bail of N70,000, with two sureties each in like sum.

The offences violate Sections 287 and 307 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015 (Revised).
Section 287 stipulates a seven-year jail term for offenders while section 307 provides three years for house-breaking.
The magistrate adjourned the case until August 24, for hearing.
