Ekiti 2018: Arewa Youth Warn INEC Against Rigging
Northern youth under the aegis of the Arewa Youth Federation (AYF) have called on Ekiti people to rise against any form of rigging in the coming governorship election in the state.
The group also said that the July 14 election would be a litmus test for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as it prepares for the 2019 elections.
President of the group, Adamu Kabir spoke with reporters in Abuja.
Kabir said INEC now has an opportunity to prove critics wrong by ensuring “that the election is credible.”
He appealed to civil society groups and international observers to keep a keen eye on happenings before, during and after the elections.
The AYF president said, “We have resolved to add our voice as responsible stakeholders in the Nigerian project, facts cannot be twisted and no matter how falsehood travels, truth will overtake it.
“Sons and daughters of Ekiti must rise up to defend their land against external aggression and resist political invasion and insurgency.
“Ekiti has remained relatively safe due to proactiveness of its Governor, Ayodele Fayose, and his team to curtail all forms of incursion into its territory by insurgents whose agenda is to kill and maim defenceless citizens for economic and land control,” he added.
