LG Polls: ‘PDP HasNot Endorsed Any Candidate’
The People Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State says it has no preferred candidate for either the chairmanship or councillorship positions in the forthcoming local government elections.
State chairman of the party, Bro Felix Obuah disclosed this during a courtesy call on him in his office in Port Harcourt by chairmanship aspirant of the party for Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area, Comrade Anthony Chukwuedei Major.
Obuah said that all aspirants must reach out to delegates with a view to getting their votes during the party’s primaries, stressing that the move was in line with Governor Wike’s commitment to ensure a level playing field for all aspirants.
The state PDP chairman also commended the governor for instructing that all the party chairmanship candidates must have women as their deputies.
Obuah also told the delegation that the decision by the party in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni to zone the chairmanship to Ndoni was to ensure fairness and equity, stressing that since all sections of the area had produced chairman except Ndoni, it was only fair and just that Ndoni be given the opportunity to produce the chairman of the council this time around.
Earlier, leader of the delegation, Mr Paul Bob had said the visit was to present the aspirant to him.
Also speaking, the aspirant, Comrade Anthony Chukwuedei Major, promised to focus on security, youth empowerment and infrastructural development.
