Rivers Angels Face Tough Tie Against FC Robo
The Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) is coming to a climax with less than four games to go with teams setting their eyes on qualification for the big one, the Super Four.
Following dropped points in last week’s action on home soil against Ibom Angels, reigning NWFL Champions, Rivers Angels are now condemned to get a decent result today when they take on FC Robo Queens in a Match Day 11 clash inside the Legacy Pitch of the National Stadium in Lagos.
While the Jewels of Rivers were held to a stalemate in Port Harcourt, the Lagos-based team lost 2-1 to Bayelsa Queens in Nembe which makes Angels’ Chief Coach, Regina Akaraonye, envisage a tough game from their hosts.
Akaraonye, however, believes her girls will put up a good fight as they face FC Robo Queens.
“I can’t use our last result to judge the girls and I believe they know what is at stake on Wednesday after dropping those points last week,” Akaraonye told newsmen.
“I also believe they’d put up a good fight to get the points they lost at home,” she added.
The former Rivers Angels skipper also used the opportunity to dismiss insinuation that the team was under the pressure to retain the NWFL title.
Akaraonye is optimistic the team still has chances of making the top spot on the log but however insists they weren’t doing that under any pressure.
“We are not under any pressure, in the game of football, you either win or lose,” Akaraonye said.
