Old Boys Laud Wike For Restructuring Traditional Institution
The Old Boys Association of Government Comprehensive Secondary School, (GCSS) ,Borikiri ,( 1983 set) in Port Harcourt, popularly known as COBA, has lauded the Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike for the moves he has made to restructure the traditional institution in the state.
They further commended the governor for upgrading the traditional stool of Eze Risi Ohia of Rebisi in Port Harcourt City Local Government Area to second class status.
This was contained in a statement signed by its Chairman and Public Relations Officer (PRO), Barrister Tubokombia Harry and Tamuno Iyowuna Kalio respectively , and made available to The Tide last Friday.
The association expressed confidence that a restructured traditional institution would work towards increased socio- cultural development and congratulated the current occupant of the Rebisi stool, Eze Christopher Wanodi, the Eze Ohia Abali X11, who is an old boy of the school for the recognition given to him by government.
According to the statement, the upgrading of the traditional stool was in recognition of traditional rulers’ services to the people of Rebisi kingdom.
“We commend Governor Nyesom Wike for upgrading the traditional stool of the Eze Risi Ohia of Rebisi in Port Harcourt City Local Government Area from third to second class status”, the statement said.
They advised Wanodi to see the upgrading of the stool as a divine call to higher service to mankind, knowing his person and commitment to service which he has exhibited since the inception of the association.
“Eze Wanodi’s achievements and upgrading of the stool should be regarded as a divine call for higher service to mankind, which he demonstrated in the establishment of COBA ‘83, we are sure he is up to the task”, the statement added.
