RSG Tasks Boards On Community Dev
The Rivers State Government has tasked community administrative boards to act as agents of change in their various communities.
The Commissioner for Chieftaincy and Community Development, Dr. John Bazia, who said this, at the inauguration of the Elem-Ifoko Community Administrative Board in Port Harcourt , said that Community Administrative Boards must develop policies and programmes for the development of their various communities.
Bazia also warned members of the Elem-Ifoko Community Administrative Board to be of good conduct, adding that the government will frown at any one chose activities were inimical to the development of the area.
He also urged the board to ensure cordial relationships between the Communities and companies operating in the area, and pledged the government’s readiness to support the Board to ensure its success.
Also speaking, Chairman of Elem-Ifoko community Administrative Board, Comrade Robert Obebara, commended the Commissioner for his courageous stand in respect of the host community right of the people of Elem-Ifoko despite the divide and rule tactics being employed by oil multinationals in the state.
He also said that the board would work hard to ensure cordial relationship between companies operating in the Elem-Ifoko territory and the communities.
Also speaking, the crown Prince of Ifoko Community, Prince Amabibi Horney, commended Governor Nyesom Wike for keeping to his promise of restoring peace to communities in the state.
Horney said that with the successful inauguration of the board, employment opportunities will be created for youth of both Ifoko and Furchee communities.
He also promised that the community water ways will be safe for companies operations.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
