VC Wants SSANU To Be Proactive
The Vice Chancellor
of the Rivers State University of Science and Technology (RSUST), Prof. Blessing Didia, has called on the leadership of the newly elected Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), RSUST branch to be proactive in their duties in order to attain its set objectives.
Making the call recently, when a delegation of the Association paid him a courtesy visit, Didia harped on the need for the newly elected executive of SSANU to be exemplary leaders who will always carry along those who elected them into office.
While expressing gratitude to God for the smooth transition of the body, he thanked the members of the union for their maturity during and after their election.
The Vice Chancellor used the opportunity to call on aggrieved members of the union to embrace peace in order to ensure growth and development of the union and that of the university, while pledging to purchase a bus for the union to enable members carry out their functions within and outside the state effectively.
Also speaking, the Registrar of the Institution, Mrs Constance Odimabo thanked the body for their visit and congratulated them on their victory.
Odimabo charged SSANU to always collaborate with management of the university, noting that “management is committed to seeing that the union attains its goals’.
Earlier in his speech, the newly elected SSANU Chairman, Rivers State University of Science and Technology branch, Comrade Azumah Cheta expressed gratitude to the Vice Chancellor of the Institution, Prof. Didia for his friendly disposition to all the union on campus and for his untiring efforts in repositioning the institution to a world class university.
Azumah expressed the union’s commitment to ensuring that better services are rendered by its members to the university.
He, however vowed to proritise the needs and welfare of SSANU members and requested for a bus to be purchased for the union to enable them carry out its functions effectively.
