Wike Inaugurates RSPHIS, Petroleum Taskforce, Today
The inauguration of the seven-man Rivers State Private Hospitals Intervention Scheme and the nine-man Petroleum Task Force committees constituted by Governor Nyesom Wike has been re-scheduled to hold today.
A statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Electronic Media, Simeon Nwakaudu, indicated that the event would kick-off at 1pm at the Executive Council Chambers of the Government House, Port Harcourt.
The statement advised members of the two committees to be punctual and be seated at the venue, at least, 30 minutes before the commencement of the ceremony.
It would be recalled that the state government had last Monday announced the constitution of both committees to drive the implementation of the policies aimed at boosting financial support for private medical facilities, and smooth and hitch-free management of petroleum products distribution in the state.
According to the government, the membership of the Committee on Rivers State Private Hospitals Intervention Scheme, include Prof Blessing Didia, chairman; O.J. Danagogo, member; Prof Nwadioto Akani, member; and Dr. Alali Dan-Jumbo, member.
Others are Dr Tombari Gbeneol, who will serve as secretary; Dr Innocent Mazi, member; and Dr Henry Sota, member.
The government also appointed Mr Kenneth Opusingi as chairman of the Rivers State Petroleum Task Force; and Ihunwo Obi-Wali as secretary; while Mr. Sammy Adiele, Chief Obo Obaa, Mr. Magnus Brother, and Mr. Paul Paul are members.
Other members are Idazhinim Ekware, Mr. Allwell Worlu, and Amicy Blessing Nworgu.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.

highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
