Rangers Gifted Utd Victory -Amapakabo
Rangers coach Imama Amapakabo has said that the league leaders gifted Rivers United two goals in their 3-1 loss in Port Harcourt on Sunday.
It was Rangers third loss of the season and Imama said they could have done better to defend Rivers second and third goals.
“We gifted them the second and third goals. We tried to fight back but it’s always hard trying to come back from three goals down,” Amapakabo lamented.
“We got it wrong. Our turnover rate was so high and psychologically, maybe (my players) were not in it.
“When a team starts to function like that, it’s worrisome.
“There was a time (during the game) when we had a gulf between the attack and the midfield and it’s always a problem when there is no link.”
Rivers United coach Stanley Eguma said starting defender Chigozie Ihunda as top striker proved a master stroke.
“When I realised that all of my strikers were unavailable, I decided to detail Ihunda as the main striker because I knew he could do a good job,” he said.
