RSG To Partner France On Agric, Vocational Education …Assures On Nkpogu Bridge Completion
Plans are underway by Rivers State Government to partner France in developing commercial agriculture and vocational education to boost employment generation for the teeming youth in the state.
The Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike gave the hint when he played host to French Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr Denys Gauer at Government House, Port Harcourt, over the Weekend.
The Rivers State Governor posited that commercial agriculture and vocational education are vital to enhance the economy of the state, stressing that agriculture can reduce unemployment, while vocational education will boost manpower skills.
He said government was ready to provide land to investors who can partners in commercial agriculture developments as he assured that security of such investors will not be a problems as the administration was doing all in its powers to thrive.
Wike reassured that time has come for states to look for alternative sources income due to the declining federal allocation as a result of falling oil prices.
Against this backdrops, he reasoned that the state government was ready to partner with investors, adding that we have decided to go into agriculture through partnership”.
The Rivers State Chief Executive also assured the French envoy of the security of its citizens, pointing out that your citizens will attest to the kind role we play to keep militancy and insecurity to the barest minimum”.
He, however, commend France for its efforts in the fight against Boko Haram, recalling that France has had long lasting relationship with Nigeria.
On his part, the French Ambassador, Deng Gauer, noted that relations between France and Nigeria have blossomed over the years as currently France is the largest trading partner in Africa.
Gauer said he was in the state to familiarize himself with the government, and also to ascertain the state of French nationals and other business, especially in oil and gas industry.
Meanwhile, Governor Wike has assured on the delivery of ongoing road projects that are billed to be completed in March this year.
According to him the Nkpogu Bridge, Rukpokwu-Eneka, Nkpolu-Rumuigbo, and Rumuoghalu, Oro-Igwe Roads will be completed by the first quarters of this year.
He gave the assurance at the weekend shortly after an unscheduled inspection of the projects, promising that government desire was to fulfill its electoral promises, as he expressed satisfaction on the level of work done so far.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
