Adamawa, Kwara United Scramble For Giwa FC
Nigeria National
League (NNL) clubs Adamawa United and Kwara United have indicated interest to buy over premier league side Giwa FC for the new season, which begins next month.
Giwa has featured in the Nigerian top-flight league for the past two seasons, holding up well despite operating a shoe-string budget and it is understood owner Chris Giwa is now open to sell his slot in the premier league after they missed out on playing international football this past season.
“Both Adamawa and Kwara United want to buy up the premier league slot of Giwa in exchange for their places in the lower league,” a top source informed.
There are strong hints of a price tag of between 150 million to 300 million Naira (about $1.5 million)
This past NNL season, Adamawa suffered yet another failed bid to gain promotion to the top flight as they were pipped by Plateau United.
Kwara United, on the hand, have headed promptly back to the lower league after they were relegated this season.
