Security Operatives Abort Pro-Biafra Protest In PH
A combined team of security operatives, yesterday, aborted a second round of protests by some pro-Biafra agitators in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.
The protest is coming barely a month after a similar protest organised by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in Port Harcourt.
The protesters, numbering about 500, were demanding for the release of Nnamdi Kanu, the director of Radio Biafra and the revalidation of the defunct Republic of Biafra.
They were, however, stopped by a combined team of the Joint Military Taste Force (JTF) and the Police around Bori Camp on the Port Harcourt-Aba Road.
The Tide also learnt that attempts by the pro-Biafra agitators to resist the security agencies, also led to the arrest of one of the protesters, while others took to their heels following sporadic shots of tear-gas canisters.
