U-20 W/Cup: Falconets Sure Of Victory Over DR Congo

Head Coach of the Falconets, Peter Dedevbo has said that the team is optimistic of victory against DR Congo in the U-20 World Cup qualifiers this weekend.
Dedevbo told newsmen yesterday after the team’s morning training session in Abuja that preparations were in top gear.
“Our training is almost coming to an end. We are sure of victory,’’ Dedevbo said.
According to him the team is fully prepared for the match, which is the second round return leg fixture, scheduled for Saturday  at the Abuja National Stadium.
“There are also no injury worries on the part of the players. The team is fit and in good shape,’’ he said.
The coach also noted that the team had promising players that could fill the vacancy left by Asisat Oshoala, who had since moved up to the senior National team, the Falcons.
“For now, I cannot say who that player is, until the World Cup proper. But we have quite a number of promising players and maybe in the World Cup, they will up their game,’’ he said.
U.S.-based player,Sophia Omidiji who was invited by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), said she would give her best if she made the final list.
“I want to play for my fatherland and that has always been my dream and that is why I am here. Nigerians should expect the best from me and I pray that I won’t let them down,’’ she said.
Omidiji was part of the team that defeated DR Congo 2-1 in the first leg match.
The winner of both fixtures will confront the aggregate winners of the clash between South Africa and Zambia for a spot in next year’s World Cup in Papua, New Guinea.
