Organisers Assure Fair Play At 8th MTN Street Soccer
The organisers of the
MTN Street Soccer have said that teams had nothing to fear in view of its strict measures aimed at stopping age cheats in this year’s tournament.
The competition runs from February 28 to March 5.
Secretary of the Local Organising Committee, Deji Aladegbemi, made the assertion at the commencement of screening of players in the U-15 category of the competition.
“There will be a level playing ground for everybody to reach his aspiration.
“The competition holds high hopes for players and teams that will do well in the competition.
“A handsome reward of N5m, N3m and N1m awaits teams that will top the competition in the first, second and third positions respectively,” the scribe said.
Aladegbemi, said that the trend of taking teams to preferred football nations for training still awaited players and teams.
According to him, with the backing of the sponsors, the organisers will always invent innovations that will bear on players positively.
He noted that there had been good response from clubs in the three categories of the U 15, the male and female.
Registrations for teams from the 57 local councils areas of the state closed on Saturday to give room for the competition to begin.
