Rivers APC Accuses Police Of Aiding Political Violence
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has called on the international community and relevant organs of Nigeria to intervene in the rising spate of killings and violence allegedly orchestrated by agents the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against APC supporters and the electorate under the watch of Nigeria police in the state.
In a nine-page document issued by the Rivers State Chairman of APC, Chief Davies Ibiamu Ikanya, yesterday at an international press conference tagged: “Peoples Democratic Party’s Bloodletting And Acts of Terror in Rivers State The Road to Perfidy” held at Hotel Presidential in Port Harcourt, The APC also called on democratic organisations and humanitarian institutions to set up high-powered election monitoring network teams for the elections to avert unnecessary violence and bloodbath in Rivers State.
The APC chairman, recalled the several acts to unleash mayhem in the form of physical attacks, killing and causing harm to members of APC across the state and blamed the police for failing to arrest the attackers despite complaints and reports to the Rivers State Police Command.
He observed that the violence, particularly in Rivers State, was due to the rascally disposition of some desperate and greedy politicians, who want to secure electoral victory by subverting the process and undermining the rule of law.
Also speaking, the APC governorship candidate in Rivers State, Dr. Dakuku Peterside called on his supporters and the entire members of APC to remain law abiding, but defend themselves and their votes by all lawful means in the state.
