‘Sports Best Way To Make Name’
An athletics coach,
Osagie Ikhaobomeh, has advised parents to encourage their children to participate in sports, to make the kids to be mentally alert.
Ikhaobomeh told the newsmen in Lagos that sports was the best way to train a child, noting that one could be educated and become famous through sports.
“Sports is the best way to make a name and sports is another best way that you can educate yourself because at all times, you are mentally alert.
“If a dullard comes to sports and keeps doing it, before you know, the brain will open.
“So I advise anybody who wants to come into sports to come as somebody who wants to win.
“It is okay to just want to do it for the fun of it. If you say you want to do it as a do or die affair, I don’t like that.
“Come and have the fun in it, gradually you just see yourself getting to the top.’’
He also urged athletes to be focused in choosing competitions they would to do, saying that athletes should reserve their energy for major events.
“Those who represent Nigeria abroad should get focused because focus is the watchword and they should know what they want to achieve.
“They should not just run every competition in the circuit, they should have a choice because there are some areas in which their energy might be needed later,’’ he said.
