Lagos Water Project To Generate 70m Gallons Per Day

tor of the Lagos State Water Works Corporation (LWC), Engr. Shayo Holloway, has said that the on-going Phase 2 Adiyan Water Works will inject an additional 70 million gallons of potable water per day into the distribution network.
Speaking with reporters in Lagos, recently, Engr. Holloway, said that the development would boost water supply to the western axis of the state.
“This will boost water supply to the western axis of the state, which hitherto is not being reliably served. Areas such as; Ipaja, Agege, Ayobo Idimu, Ikotun; Isolo. Festac, Owode, Kirikiri, Ajegunle, Apapa and parts of Ogun State will benefit.
“Furthermore, Ikorodu township and environ will also be served, while the Lagos Metropolis will witness pressure boost in the water mains for improved service delivery.
“Adiyan Phase 2 is expected to serve over 3 million inhabitants of the aforementioned areas,” he said.
He also said that the Phase 2 of the project which is coming 23 years after the completion of Adiyan Phase I has witnessed the deployment of state-of-the-art technology to improve operational efficiency and environmental compliance.
According to him, in line with the masterplan, Technical design is also being finalized for the construction of the 50 million gallons per day. Yewa Water scheme which will be sited in Badagry to serve the Lagos-Badagry axis which is expected to grow rapidly in tandem with the on-going light rail transportation and the dual carriage way infrastructure.
“Work is also on-going for the development of the Odomola water scheme with an ultimate 210 million gallons water scheme to serve the Epe/ Victoria Island Corridor.
“This will be undertaken in 3 phases,” he said.
