Ex-LG Boss Wants Tight Securityr In Community t
A Former chairman of
Khana Local Government Area and member, Rivers State Scholarship Board, Chief Gordon Tornwe, has called on security agencies to beef-up security in Kono Bo-ue Community in Khana LGA following rampant cases of sponsored cult-related killings in the area.
Hon Tornwe said the call had become necessary as a result of the gruesome murder of a prominent community leader, Chief Dee Agbem on 28th July, 2014.
Chief Tornwe noted that the deceased was killed by a sponsored cult group in the area who felt threatened by the peaceful disposition and mediatory posture of the deceased.
He charged security operatives to fish out the killers of Chief Agbem and prosecute them accordingly, adding that such action would deter further bloodshed in the area.
The former council boss further explained that the community was living in fear and panic, saying, that with adequate security, law and order would return in Kono Bo-ue community.
The community leader described as sad, shocking, barbaric and retrogressive the killing of Chief Agbem and appealed to the state government and security operatives to flush out all undesirable elements perpetrating crimes in the area.
He commiserated with the deceased family over the murder of their breadwinner and prayed for the repose of his soul.
Hon Tornwe, a justice of the peace, however, demented that despite concerted efforts by him and other well-meaning community leaders to avert the crisis, such peace overtures fell on deaf ears.
