Petroleum Minister Sacks Two Aides
The Minister of Petro
leum Resources, Mrs Diezani Alison-Madueke has sacked two of her aides for leaking secret information relating to the controversial N10 billion chartered jets allegation hanging on her head.
The Tide gathered that the embattled Minister fired the personal aides recently for leaking secret information concerning the chartered jets and other alleged illegal financial transactions.
Alison-Madueke, apparently unprepared to defend her case has continued to shun invitations by the House of Representatives committee on Public Accounts investigating alleged extra-budgetary expenditure even as she had also refused to honoure Senator Magnus Abe-led committee on Down stream in the Upper Chamber of the National Assembly.
Meanwhile, The Tide source has revealed that the House of Representatives Committee probing, amongst other things, the N10 billion jet expenses is now in possession of the manifest of the Minister’s trips using the jets.
Our source from the National Assembly authoritatively confirmed that the committee had secured information revealing that the owners of the challenger 850 jet were actually placed on retainership for her exclusive use.
Records reveal that the Vista jet is being owed for twelve months. The owner of the hanger where the jet parks-Evergreen is said to have already made submissions containing flight records to the House of Representatives Committee.
The senate committee on Petroleum Committee (Downstream) lamented that authorities of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) have continued to shun making available to the committee records of existing aircraft and payments on chartered jets.
The Group Managing Director (GMD) of NNPC, Mr Andrew Yakubu, according to our source has started having a face-off with the minister.
Meanwhile, the Senate Committee has fixed April 28 for public Hearing on the matter.
