A/Ibom Needs N65b To Complete Ukanafun, Oruk Anam Roads
Govervor Godswill
Akpabio of Akwa Ibom says his administration needs about N65 billion to construct roads in the Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency in the state.
Akpabio made the announcement at a town hall meeting at Ikot Akpa Nkuk, near Uyo, recently.
The governor, who admitted the inability of his administration to construct roads in every area, said that the state government had, however, completed 98 kilometers of road in Ukanafun.
“We are not happy with the non-commencement of work on roads leading to some villages in this area.
“However, I believe that when completed, Ikot Ekara-Ikot Ibritam-Ikot Etim Road will open up both Local Government Areas for more meaningful development.’’
The governor said that the constituency had benefitted from 234 life-touching projects cutting across the state.
He named the projects to include the Security Villages, the Free and Compulsory Education of his administration and Free Health-Care Programme for pregnant women, children and the elderly.
Akpabio assured people of the area that his administration would do its best to address some of the pressing issues in the area before 2015.
“What we cannot do, the next administration will continue from where we would stop, government is continuum,” he said.
Also speaking, the Deputy Speaker of the state’s House of Assembly, Mr Kirian Udo, commended the governor for “the massive transformation of the state through meaningful developmental projects”.
Udo pledged the constituency’s readiness to support the governor’s senatorial ambition after handing over power in 2015.
