Cartel FC Plans Football Tourney For Late Harry
The Cartel Football Club
of Port Harcourt says it has concluded plans to organise All Stars Football tournament in honour of its late patron and member, Rt Hon Tonye Willie Harry.
The championship tagged, “Tonye Harry All Stars Football tournament is expected to kick-off in March next year as the club marks its 10th anniversary.
Chairman of the club, Alhaji Sani Okiri dropped this hint in an interview with The Tidesports in Port Harcourt soon after a novelty football match played in honour of late Harry at the Port Harcourt Club football pitch recently.
Okiri said the championship would be a mark of honour for their depended colleague, who had been a mentor, father and friend to members of the club.
He said the contributions of the late Harry could be quantified in terms of sponsorship, support, and putting smiles on the faces of members who had any opportunity to contact him, describing him as a man that deserved honour.
He prayed God to give the family and friends fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
Also speaking, the Vice Chairman of Port Harcourt Club football section, Bobo Atamah Pepple described late Harry as a pillar of sports and man of like minds who associates with everybody no matter the position, adding that the vacuum his death created in sports promotion in the state would be difficult to fill.
The novelty match between Cartel FC and Port Harcourt Club Football section ended 1-1 with Amaseye Gabriel and Aye Atamah Pepple scoring for their sides.
