…Scrables Target World Tourney
Rivers State Scrabble Association says that it has concluded arrangements to travel to Zech Republic for the world scrabble championship tagged ‘Open Mind Festival’ scheduled to hold from December 4th to 5th this year.
Coach of the association, Tony Ikoli who disclosed this in an exclusive interview with Tidesports at the weekend said that, invitation to participate in the tournament was sent by the association’s world body.
He further stated that modalities have been the worked out for approval as to enable the state scrabble association participate in the championship.
We are presently, under intensive preparations for the task ahead while we wait for the approval of our proposal”, he said.
Ikoli also said that the competition would be the maiden edition, saying that, it is the new version of the world scrabble championship.
According to the coach, tournament would help the state to prepare the athletes adequately for the forthcoming 19th National Sports Festival expected to hold in Calabar, Cross River State, come next year.
He added that the championship would be used to select players to represent the state in the National Sports fiesta.
