FG Spends N60bn On Abuja-Abaji-Lokoja Road Project
A Deputy Director in the Federal Ministry of Works, Mr. Bola Aganaba has revealed, the federal government was committing more than N60 billion to the section two and three of the Abuja-Abaji-Lokoja 100 km road.
According to him already two contractors namely Bulletine Construction and Gitto Construction Company have been mobilized to site.
He said that the project would be completed by March 2014 even as he said the road was not given attention due to lack of funds.
He further revealed that the roads project was not included in the federal budget for the last two years due to the same reasons.
Aganaba further explained that the federal government was committed to the completion of the road through the Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme (SURE-P),
Speaking when the “Good Governance Team” visited Lokoja, the Kogi State Capital, recently, the Director explained that after the 2012 flooding an emergency contract was awarded to CGC construction company.
He said this was to enable the road to be raised to one metre higher to prevent flooding.
While responding on behalf of the minister of information the special assistant to the minister media, Mr. Kingsley Osadolor said the road project was critical to the present administration.
