Institute Faults IPCC Report On Climate Change
The Director,
International Institute for Environment and Development, Dr Camilla Toulmin has criticised the latest Inter-governmental Panel on Climate Change’s (IPCC) report for failing to indicate how climate would change from place to place.
In a press release copied to The Tide correspondent last week, Toulmin, argued that the latestreport confirms much of what many experts have warned against which is that human activities were responsible for rising temperatures and increased climate instability across the world.
According to him, that there is no doubt that continued greenhouse gas emissions would unleash a wild mix of dangerous impacts on humanity.
He however cautioned that climate models were not yet robust enough to predict impacts at local and regional scales, but that from the experience of the many people who faced loss and damage in 2013 alone it was clear that everybody was vulnerable in some way.
“This uncertainty about local impacts, coupled with the certainty that impacts will come, is a stark warning that everyone needs to get ready. Citizens and business leaders worldwide need to press governments to act, both at home and on the international stage.” He stated.
