Director Wants Farmers To See Agric As Business
The Federal Director of
Agriculture in-charge of the North Central Zone, Mr Sunday Edibo, has advised farmers to see agriculture as a business venture and a means of creating wealth.
Edibo said this in an interview with the newsmen at Abaji, the headquarters of Abaji Area Council of the FCT last Thursday.
He said that the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development considered farming as a serious business that would boost food production in Nigeria.
He, however, said that the ongoing Agricultural Transformation Agenda (ATA) project could only be successful, if farmers received adequate support.
“We are giving a helping hand in the provision of fertiliser for crops at 50 per cent discount to farmers who have registered under ATA.”
Edibo said that by making inputs available and accessible to rural farmers, their productivity and income would increase.
