PDP Crisis: Group Pledges Support For Amaechi
As the crisis in the Peoples
Democratic Party (PDP) deepens, a socio-political organisation, Non Alliance Vanguard has pledged to mobilise the support of Rivers people for Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi to enable him overcome his current political travails.
The state coordinator of the organisation, Engr Emmanuel Amadi who briefed newsmen on political developments in Rivers State at the weekend in Omagwa, Ikwerre Local Government Area, also endorsed an Ogoni candidate for the governorship of Rivers State come 2015.
Engr. Amadi said that the organisation which has co-ordinators in all states of the federation was dismayed at the level of political gang-up against Governor Amaechi by detractors both within and outside the state.
He however, said that the evil machinations of Amaechi’s enemies will fail as he (Amaechi) has the support of every Rivers man and woman, noting that the group will not fold its hands, while enemies continue to distract the governor from his policies and programmes for Rivers people.
On the group’s endorsement of an Ogoni candidate for 2015 governorship slot in the state, Amadi said that the Ogonis who are one of the largest ethnic groups in the state have never produced governor of Rivers State since its creation.
He regretted that the Ogonis have been marginalised over the years, stressing that 2015 must be used to fully integrate the people by zoning the governorship to the area.
The co-ordinator also commended governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi for his people-oriented projects across the state.
He listed some of the projects to include the greater Port Harcourt City project, the undergraduate and post-graduate overseas scholarship for Rivers indigenes, the health centres and hospital projects, the over 13,000 teachers recruitment as well as the various model schools across the state.
According to him, Governor Amaechi deserves the support of all Rivers people to enable him complete his programmes for the state.

APC Unveils New NWC At National Convention
Delegates at the convention, held at the Eagle Square, also produced a new national working committee (NWC) through a consensus arrangement endorsed by stakeholders.
Dr Ben Nwoye was named deputy national chairman (south), replacing Mr Emma Eneukwu, following consultations within the party.
Sources within the party said the decision was influenced by zoning considerations and consultations among party leaders, with Mr Peter Mbah, Enugu State governor, playing a significant role in ensuring Dr Nwoye’s inclusion.
In his acceptance speech, Prof. Yilwatda said his re-election was a call to greater service and pledged commitment to unity within the ruling party.
“We are ready to serve, ready to lead, and we are ready to build the party, together with the nation,” he said.
He added that the new leadership would not “fail or falter” in carrying out its responsibilities.
President Bola Tinubu, Vice-President Kashim Shettima, governors, members of the national assembly, and other party leaders graced the convention.
