Cleric Tasks Pupils On Academic Excellence
The need for pupils to fulfill their purpose was stressed during the 2012 annual carol service organised for schools by the Lagos State Ministry of Education at the Chapel of Christ the Light, Lagos.
The event tagged: “Festival of Christmas Carol and nine lessons,” was to remind the pupils of thier purpose in life amid joy and celebration of the yuletide.
In his sermon, the presiding chaplain of the Church, Rev. Canon, J.o. Tanimonu, told the pupils to be purposeful in life as Jesus was born for a purpose and also be free from sin while celebrating Christmas.
The cleric also advised them not to allow distractions of any sorts derail their education because God has ordained a purpose for their being in school which must be accomplished.
“Be zealous, determined, have passion to follow up your destiny, for a purposeful life, lives to regret nothing. Also live an exemplary life that glorifies God,” he added.
In the spirit of Christmas, Rev. Tanimonu, counseled the pupils to reach out to the less privileged, imbibe the attitude of giving and also have the less privileged at heart.
Pupils from public schools in the six education districts sang various carols songs.
