PCRC Lauds RSG On Security
The Rivers State Government has been commended for its untiring efforts in ensuring security of
its citizenry.
The Chairman, Police Community
Relations Committee (PCRC), Port Harcourt Area Command, Mr. Godfrey Agorom made
the commendation at the thanksgiving service and end of year party organised by
the body at the Area Command headquarters, Port Harcourt last Wednesday.
Mr. Agorom said security of lives and
property had improved in the state through the efforts of Governor Chibuike
Rotimi Amaechi-led government, the
Police and other security agencies, especially within the Port Harcourt
metropolis, and expressed optimism that it would continue to improve with the
individual and collective roles played by all morally and constitutionally.
He said, “we in PCRC will continue to
work assiduously to ensure the aims and objectives for which PCRC was established
is achieved to the glory of God and well-being of humanity”.
He also noted that the security and
safety recorded on “our roads were due to the support and encouragement of the
state Governor, Rt. Hon. Chubuike Rotimi Amaechi with the collaboration of other
agencies in road traffic management as well as the co-operation of the public,
saying, ‘it has gone a long way in sanitising our roads”.
Mr. Agorom reiterated that PCRC members
would not rest on their oars until unauthorised uniform men are totally out of
our roads, and appealed to the authorities to take urgent steps to save the
masses from further embarrassment, harassment and intimidation.
He also thanked the Inspector General
of Police, Mr. Muhammed Abubakar for deliberately reducing the risk of blindness
among the Police rank and file, by dismantling Police road blocks and
withdrawing officers and men that were exposed to all kinds of hazards, adding,
“PCRC is happy with this development”.
In his sermon at the thanksgiving
service, Pastor Raphael Itode of Hope for Tomorrow Network, Port Harcourt
harped on the power of love, saying life without love is a disaster pointing
out that Holy Ghost is a product of love.
Pastor Itode, a Police Officer, who
took his text from the book of 1st John 4 verse 7-9 and Romans 13 verse 2,3 and 9
enjoined all to be diligent in their duties saying “no effective welfare no
effective warfare”.
The occasion was attended by
dignitaries from all walks of life. Highlight of the occasion was prayer for
the nation, the state, the Police Command and the PCRC in the State.

VIO HOLDS COLLABORATIVE MEETING WITH AUPCTRE IN RIVERS STATE
The Chief of the Rivers State Road Traffic and Vehicle Inspection Officers (VIO), Engr. Akobo Monibo, alongside other executive officers of the agency, received the leadership of the Amalgamated Union of Public Corporations, Civil Service Technical and Recreational Employees (AUPCTRE), Rivers State Council, during a courtesy and interactive meeting held at the office of the Chief VIO.
The delegation was led by the State Chairman of AUPCTRE, Comrade Tamunoiminabo Toby, accompanied by other executive members of the union.
Speaking during the meeting, Engr. Akobo Monibo expressed appreciation to the union leadership for identifying with the VIO at this crucial time and commended the union for its commitment towards workers’ welfare and institutional development.
According to him, the responsibilities of the VIO remain enormous and vital to the development of a safer transportation system within the state.
In his response, the State Chairman of AUPCTRE, Comrade Tamunoiminabo Toby, appreciated the warm reception and hospitality extended to the union delegation by the leadership of the VIO.
He explained that the purpose of the courtesy visit was to facilitate the establishment of an AUPCTRE Unit or Chapter within the VIO, noting that the union already has members within the Ministry of Transport and other related agencies.
The chairman further emphasized the benefits of union membership, especially in promoting workers’ welfare, unity, cooperation, and professional representation within government establishments.
Also speaking during the meeting, the Deputy Chief VIO, Comrade Livings Denoi, appreciated the union for the visit and welcomed the move towards establishing a VIO Chapter of AUPCTRE, describing it as a positive step toward strengthening collaboration and staff welfare within the agency.
Other personalities present during the meeting included Sup. Stella Jacks and the State Secretary of AUPCTRE, Comrade Okpeyeme Adebajo, alongside other officials from both organizations.
The meeting ended on a cordial note, with both parties reaffirming their commitment to partnership, institutional growth, and the promotion of efficient service delivery in Rivers State.
