Monalisa Chinda Celebrates Birthday …Spends N6.5m On Automobile
Reports reaching The TIde Entertainment from some sources have it that Rivers State born beautiful screen goddess and single mother of one, Monalisa Chinda has spent about 6.5million Naira on an automobile. Mona, as she is fondly called, recently took the delivery of a 2012 model of Honda Crosstour.
We gathered that the Glo ambassador is living in her world and is very excited about it. “Mona is doing everything possible to make sure she lives very comfortable. Tamar is giving her the joy of her life,” the source said.
Few weeks ago, Monalisa gathered some of her celebrity friends at Nu Grotto, Victoria Island, Lagos for a lavish birthday party. The bash was attended by Ini Edo, Mike Ezuruonye, Segun Arinze amidst others.
In a related deveopment, Nollywood’s controversial actress, Empress Njamah added a year to her age. But for the former girlfriend of controversial Bayelsa State-born singer, Timaya, she chose this day to pour out her mind on the way the media practitioners in Nigeria have made a devil out of her in order to make money for themselves.
The Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye, Ogun State graduate took to her Facebook page to express her displeasure at the way the watchdogs of the society have, according to her, ‘poisoned’ the minds of the people in believing she is as bad as she is being reported in the press.
She posted, “never judge a book by its cover; I am a typical example of that. When people who have read or heard a lot of negative reports about me meet me, they are always shocked. Some will even render their apology, telling me, ‘Empress, I am sorry, I didn’t think you were this kind of warm’.
“You see with the way people painted me especially the press, anyone who has not met me before will think I am a devil. The function of the press in society is to inform, but its role in a decadent society like ours is abused by misinforming the masses in order to make money.
“If you believe everything you see and hear in the news, then, you can as well believe Obama is a grandmother. I do not see myself joining any clique. I do not see myself hanging out at the theatre with others, discussing everything about nothing. If anybody needs me, if you have a job for me, just call me.
“Our society is full of hypocrisy. Apart from the fact that acting nude is alien to our culture, there are so many things happening in our society today which are not part of our culture. The same people who would love to see you look decent are the same people who would go behind your back to criticise you. That’s our society for you. Yes, if my society is not all that hypocritical, I will do it.”
You really think the Nigerian media has ‘poisoned’ the mind of the people in believing that Empress is a devil?

Nigeria’s World Cup Absence A Big Miss – Terry
England and Chelsea legend John Terry has expressed disappointment over Nigeria’s absence from the 2026 FIFA World Cup, admitting that the Super Eagles will be sorely missed as the tournament started yesterday Tidesports source reports.
Eric Chelle’s side finished second in Group C of the CAF World Cup qualifiers behind South Africa, who secured one of the automatic qualification spots for the tournament.
The Super Eagles kept their hopes alive by defeating Gabon in the playoff semi-finals but saw their dreams shattered after losing to the Democratic Republic of Congo on penalties in the decisive playoff final.
The defeat condemned Nigeria to a second successive absence from the World Cup, having also failed to qualify for the 2022 tournament in Qatar. The Nigeria Football Federation later challenged DR Congo’s qualification, alleging the use of ineligible players during the campaign. However, the appeal was dismissed, ending any hopes of a late reprieve.
Nigeria will be a big miss. This is a World Cup for participants who haven’t had the opportunity to play in the tournament. I would have loved to see a top team like Nigeria there because they’ve got some great individuals. They’re a great nation. So, yeah, they fall under that category for me.
“I think they are a big miss because Nigeria probably would have gone further in the competition, but unfortunately, one side’s loss is another’s gain.
“I know Mikel Obi is very upset that they’re not there. It means he can’t do more commentating on the World Cup. That’s why he was upset.”
The 2026 World Cup officially begins with co-hosts Mexico.
The historic clash, set to take place at the iconic Estadio Azteca, rekindles memories of the opening match of the 2010 FIFA World Cup, which ended 1-1. South Africa took the lead through Siphiwe Tshabalala’s stunning strike before Rafael Márquez salvaged a draw for Mexico with a 79th-minute equaliser.
