U-17: Nigeria Accuses Mali Of Age Cheating
A member of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF has
accused Mali of using over aged players in the first leg of the African
Under-17 qualifier against played in Calabar on Sunday.
Goals from defender Wilfred Ndidi and midfielder Alhassan
Ibrahim have given Nigeria the early advantage, but NFF officials were left
unhappy about the ‘maturity’ of the Malian players and are considering a
protest.
“We are going to protest to CAF concerning this Malian team.
Physiologically, it is not possible that the players are under the age of 17,”
observed Barrister Chris Green, member of the NFF executive committee.
The return leg will take place in Bamako in a fortnight with
the winner on aggregate qualifying for the finals in Morocco in April 2013.
