Lawmaker’s Spouse Wants More Women In Politics
The wife of the lawmaker rep resenting Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area in Rivers State House of Assembly, Mrs. Patience Lucky Odili, has challenged women in the area to get involved in politics, as a fast means of making themselves relevant in governance and also excel in life.
Mrs Lucky Odili gave the charge during the launch of an empowerment scheme which she initiated for women from Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area over the weekend.
The scheme which empowered 14 women with the sum of N20,000.00 (Twenty thousand naira) each, was intended to positively address the plight of the needy, while serving as a platform to appreciate the teeming population of female electorate.
“I called you here today to thank you because in our door-to-door campaigns, you came out en mass and during the election, you voted and delivered the governor, all assembly members among others,” she said.
She urged the women to support the present administration of Governor Chibuike Amaechi so as to receive more dividends of democracy while charging the beneficiaries of her empowerment scheme to make judicious use of the cash in a bid to improve their living standard.
Meanwhile, the chairman of the occasion, Lady Jane Chinwo, has described the event as historic and charged wives of other elected politicians to borrow a leaf from Mrs. Odili.
Some of the beneficiaries include: Florence Ezebuike (Ward II) Queen Oburu (Ward 6) and Esther Nwosu (Ward 14) among others.
In her reaction, Mrs. Nwosu stated that the gesture had given them a sense of belonging, as she lauded the vision of Mrs Odili and thanked her for such initiative.
