VC Blames Inadequate Funds For Varsities’ Woes
The Vice Chancellor, Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Rumuolumeni, Port Harcourt, Professor Rosemound Dienye Green-Osahogulu has identified financial inadequacy as a major constraint to effective strategic plan implementation in public universities in the country.
Speaking during a two-day capacity workshop on strategic management in higher education system for senior staff of the institution held at the university’s auditorium, recently, Professor Green-Osahogulu, said the workshop was organised for the high level management staff who according to her, are drivers to strategic management adding that strategic management entails setting the direction for desirable milestones of organisational development and performance effectiveness.
The acting vice chancellor pointed out that to attain effectiveness in strategic management planning in the university calls for commitment in order to sustain capacity building adding that strategic action was relatively new to the public sector where organizations are usually not profit-oriented.
According to her sound university performance in strategic management requires discipline, necessitates discipline and committed to plan preparation in workplace which demands stringent respect for policies, rules and regulations at the employing organisation in situation characterised by team spirit and collaboration.
